The PPAGKC Board has been in the process of reviewing and making changes to the ByLaws of the Professional Photographer's Association of Greater Kansas City (PPAGKC), and it is very important that our members have an input into the changes.  Under the "INFORMATION" tab above, you will find a link to Proposed ByLaw Changes.  This will open a new browser window when you click the link.  If you are an active member, you must be logged in in order to view the ByLaw Change Suggestions.  You can also look at our current set of ByLaws that govern the PPAGKC by clicking on the "INFORMATION" tab above and choosing PPAGKC BYLAWS.

The ByLaw Articles will be voted on at the next General Meeting.  If you want to have any say in these, please don't hesitate to give us your input.  The vote will go one of three ways on the existing Articles to vote on; "Yes" to adopt the new wording, "No" to reject the new wording or "Table for Discussion".  We will not be discussing the changes at the next meeting other than voting on them.

Please read them and you are more than welcome to comment on them, which we will take into consideration!  If you have any questions, please contact one of the current board members.

    Thank you!

Don't forget members, there is an active poll on our website that we would really like you to participate in if you haven't already.  We are looking for your preferences for days of Merit Classes.  If you don't vote, then you can't complain if we have it on a day you don't want!

Please click HERE to visit the poll and see the results about merit classes.  If you have already voted, you will be able to see the results so far.

    Thank you!

In an effort to get more use out of our website, I have setup a couple Forums for your use.  You do have to be logged in to the website to see them, but we have a social forum in which you can just chat about anything you want.  We also have a "For Sale" forum in which you can post items that you have for sale or are looking for.

Please feel free to visit them at your leisure.  You can find them listed under the "FORUMS" menu item at the top of the page.

Also, for board members and other private groups, if you would like a forum created for your group, please let me know and I'll get it set up.

NOTE:  Board Members - you must be logged in to visit the Board Members forum!

Yes, I said the "T" word.  We all have to deal with taxes and photographers are no different, especially if you run your own business.  This year, starting from when this website went live, we can provide a list of payments that you have made throughout the year to you, however, we will only be doing it on a request basis.

If you would like to have a listing of the charges/payments/meetings/classes that you have made a financial transaction for, please email me with your request.  You can email contact@ppagkc.org and I will put you on my list.  After the 1st of the year, I will begin producing reports and sending them to you.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

As you have probably noticed, the PPAGKC website has undergone a transformation.  Well, that transformation is not quite complete and there are a few things that will be added to this website in the near future!  If you are a member or a Friend of PPAGKC, you can log in with your email address and password.  If you don't know your password, click on the "Forgot Password" option and a link will be sent to you to reset it.  If all else fails, drop an email to me at "contact@ppagkc.org" and I'll take care of it as soon as I can.

Once you log in, click on your profile and please make sure all your information is correctly listed.  There ARE some duplicate fields there, but please indulge me and fill them out.  I will be fixing the database very soon, probably in the next day or two.

There are a couple very nice features that will be coming up such as being able to pay your membership fees online AND allowing them to be recurring so you don't have to worry about paying your membership fees!  Events and meetings can also be paid for online as well.  Members will also have their own web pages available to them as well as a Member's-Only Forum and other Member-specific benefits!

NOTE:  Members, you will HAVE to log in to the website in order to get member pricing on events, meetings and classes.  Otherwise, the public price will be your only option.

However, until all that happens, if you run into problems, or have questions, or just can't navigate the site, please let me know by clicking on my name below and sending me an email and I'll try and help you with it!  Thank you for visiting!!

Do you think of yourself as a photographer or as a digital editor?

In general, do you spend more time with your camera or with your editing software?

When you think of editing a photo, do you set any limits for yourself? Are you comfortable changing the content of your photo or do you limit your changes to style?

    • Style changes include adjusting hue, tone, or temperature; cropping; and background blurring.
    • Content changes involve adding something to the photo that was not there in the original image.

From your perspective, how much editing is too much? When does changing the content of the photo make it misleading or false? Does your answer depend on the purpose of the photo?

If your intent is to capture a moment in time, are you more inclined to limit edits to style changes? If your intent is to create a work of art, do you give yourself the freedom to make content changes?

We must decide for ourselves how much editing is too much.
