From Jim: My early forays into photography came after graduating from Texas Tech with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. From early backpacking trips in the wilds of Big Bend National Park where a camera and a few lenses had a reserved spot in the pack, I got a reputation as “the photographer” on most of the outings we did with the Sierra Club in Big Bend. Both Cindy and I loved being in the remote deserts of West Texas and started leading backpacking trips for the Sierra Club in 1971. In the meantime, we sold images, had images published and generally had a great time with photography. I say “we” because my wife has been an integral part of the team since day one. She not only manages the business side but “watches my back”, not that I am getting into risky situations. Rather she sees what is going on the other sides when I get totally engrossed in what is going on in front of my lens. I would have missed some truly exquisite scenes and situations without her attentive eye.

What type of photography do we like? Well, we started off photographing wild places and wildlife, moved into weddings and portraits as a good way to make things profitable then got into leading trips for other photographers. We love teaching photography and introducing people to our special places in the world.
