Master photographers understand that elevating an image from technically proficient to truly artistic often involves risk-taking. Like any art form, photography is frequently guided by traditional principles Breaking the Rules of Photography with Purpose such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, and proper exposure. However, intentionally breaking these rules can produce powerful effects that convey emotion, challenge perception, and create unique narratives. For example, shooting with unconventional framing, playing with motion blur, or deliberately overexposing can evoke a sense of chaos, energy, or abstraction that wouldn't emerge through conventional methods.
We’ll examine the past and how it’s influencing the future with front flash, motion blur, cinematic looks and more to find out what’s on trend. We’ll also discuss whether to roll with the changes or stand firm and the possible outcomes of both. We hope you’ll join us!
